Scandal Episode 22

Myeong Geun makes the dumbass decision that perhaps it is better this way for him and Real Eun Joong to part hating each other and cursing the ground the other walks on.

Real Eun Joong and Ah Mi continue their camping advertisement adventure. She refuses to go back home without him. He refuses to go back home. There's only one thing they can do: ooh and ahh over the delicious food he cooked on his portable camp stove which I'm sure you can get off a shopping network. She does manage to sneak off long enough to make a quick call to Myeong Geun to tell him where they are.

Real Eun Joong is standing at the shoreline (wearing his fashionable outdoor jacket) having flashbacks to the night of the shooting. We see that while he was fading fast from the bullet he was still conscious enough to hear Myeong Geun telling Tae Ha that Eun Joong was really the villain's son. As that damn sad song plays for the umpteenth time, Eun Joong starts walking into the water. Good thing Ah Mi has come back in time to witness his suicide attempt.

She runs into the water after him, begging him not to do this. Eun Joong, looking really spaced out, is now flashing back to that episode when he was a kid and ate all the candy and Myeong Geun cruelly told him to stop calling him dad and to get out of the house. It is quite heartbreaking. Eun Joong asks Ah Mi how she is able to do it. How she's able to go on with all the bad things that have happened in her life. Ah Mi replies she'll tell him if he'll just get out of the water. Eun Joong hugs her but this is one of those I-need-a-shoulder-to-cry-on-so-bad-right-now kind of hugs.

The next day Myeong Geun goes to answer the doorbell and finds Tae Ha on the other side. (This could all have been avoided if DramaKoreans had peepholes in their doors.) The two men start their "I should have killed you!" spat when they're interrupted by Soo Young in her day-glo yellow pumps. She doesn't know who Tae Ha is and respectfully introduces herself. Tae Ha gives her this - well, kind of creepy/dirty old guy look as he thinks to himself he might be able to use her as a tool of revenge against Myeong Geun.

(We're all wondering why Tae Ha hasn't been arrested for shooting his son yet. Not only were their witnesses, but there was also that gizmo hidden in the gun recording Tae Ha's grand declaration that he was going to kill Eun Joong. What more does it take to get a guy arrested in Korea?)

The two enemies go off to some bureaucrat's office to fill out some paperwork that will make Ha Geun Young/Ha Eun Joong officially dead and Real Eun Joong free to become Jang Eun Joong. No word yet on what's to be done with the current Jang Eun Joong.

Real Eun Joong wakes up in his roomy Center Pole screened tent (find a dealer near you) to find that Ah Mi has tied a long string around his ankle so she would be awakened if he tried to escape. Too bad she's sleeping right through this. As Eun Joong gives her the Stare of Burgeoning Love he thinks to himself how close he is to starting to have feelz for her but now he can't because he may be the son of her husband's killer.

Tae Ha meets with Hwa Young's doctor (who quickly forgets doctor/patient confidentiality) and orders the MD to change his wife's medical prescription to a drug that's used to treat schizophrenia. The doctor warns that a non-schizophrenic person taking this drug will become mentally confused and unable to speak. Well duh, that's why Tae Ha wants her to be taking it.

Hwa Young perhaps suspects Tae Ha will be doing something to her soon as she's talking to her lawyer about changing her will so that Real Eun Joong will get everything and not her evil husband. Good Girl is also looking into security guard companies. Maybe you should start carrying a blurry knife with you as well, just in case.

Fake Eun Joong comes into her office and Hwa Young is obviously not pleased to see him. Fake is here to drop off his resignation letter. He tells his former mother that the only thing keeping him going is his hatred for her. He blames Hwa Young for all his heartache and continues to adore the father who has now pushed him away.

That same father has called Fake Eun Joong in for a meeting to tell Fake he can't use the name Jang anymore and he needs to get out of the house so Real Eun Joong can move in. Oh, and while Fake is at it he can go testify at Real Eun Joong's disciplinary hearing to clear the cop's name about the supposed bribery. Tae Ha now blames Fake for making him go cuckoo for Coco Puffs and shooting his own son, so this little thing may help clear things between them.

Jin Woong and Joo Ha have a meeting in her office so the show can have yet another excuse to display Center Pole outfitting gear.

Fake goes through with his dad's orders and goes down to the police department to testify to Real Eun Joong's innocence. While he's there he overhears how the gun, along with the recording gizmo inside it, has disappeared. Well that certainly helps to explain why Tae Ha hasn't been arrested yet. The question, though, is who did get the gun as this is all news to Fake. (Of course, he's out of the loop now, what with not being Tae Ha's real son and all.)

The mystery doesn't last long as the next scene shows us Real Eun Joong has the recording gizmo. The new mystery is when the hell did he have time to do this? He starts to listen to the recording but then puts it aside in his backpack so he can spend quality time  with Ah Mi fishing with these Center Pole fishing rods. Oh my, Eun Joong has slipped in another hug, and this isn't an I-need-a-shoulder-to-cry-on-so-bad-right-now kind of hug.

Back at the Jang house, Hwa Young is taking her medicine - that Tae Ha has already switched out with the schizo meds.

Ah Mi is enjoying a beautiful sunset and trying to avoid the elephant in the room concerning the not-platonic hug from earlier. Eun Joong doesn't help things by being straightforward and confessing to Ah Mi that he likes looking at her, he likes talking to her, he likes being with her.

Later that evening when he's alone Eun Joong does listen to the gizmo and Myeong Geun's confession of kidnapping and keeping Tae Ha's son. But does Eun Joong not also hear Myeong Geun's heartwrenching cries for Eun Joong to live?

Them pills sure do work fast as Hwa Young is already out of her head. Tae Ha is planning to hold a press conference so the whole world with know Ha Myeong Geun is a kidnapper. As he's heading for the gate he spies Real Eun Joong. Tae Ha scurries out to the street and gives his son an awkward hug, which Real Eun Joong allows! I sure hope the only reason Eun Joong is there is to get inside the organization and finally get the dirty goods on Tae Ha.
