Shine Or Go Crazy Episode 3

The episode opens with a blindfolded Wang So out in the forest practicing his sword art online. Ah, he's wearing the butterfly token that his "wife" Shin Yool gave him five years ago. When Eun Chan comes up to report to him, So deftly hides the butterfly away.

Still looking for the source of the king's assassination (which was kept hidden from the public), their attention has now been drawn to Kim Jon Sik (played by the ubiquitous Ahn Suk Hwan. Does this man never take a break?) who is part of Wang Shik Ryum's Legion of Doom. In three days time at a temple ceremony, Wang So decides his black ninjas will attack.

Shin Yool and So pass each other in slow motion on the crowded city street without noticing each other, as Kdramas love to do. Someone who did see and recognize Wang So on the street is Yool's foster mother, Baek Myo.

Yool is a busy woman as it is her Chunghae Trading business that is acquiring many items for the royal family that will be used in the Buddhist ceremony. Baek Myo tells her husband, Kang Myung, about spotting Wang So. Myung thinks they should tell Yool about it but Baek Myo is totally against it. Wang So was dressed down for his undercover work and Baek Myo thinks he's nothing but a beggar and not worthy of their lady.

Princess Yeo Won has to have her husband practically dragged back home. She insists he clean up and attend the very important ceremony coming up. Yeo Won goes on to the temple to check up on how things are going when she runs into Shin Yool. The princess invites the merchant woman back to the mansion for tea so they can further discuss Buddhist business. Then Yeo Won makes the odd request of wanting to order a person. Yool stays cool as she says sorry but we don't sell people. Yeo Won is acting strange like she recognizes Yool from another place and time yet Yool doesn't seem to know Yeo Won beyond this moment.

It's the day of the ceremony and imperial family are inside the temple awaiting the arrival of the king. He seems like an okay guy, complimenting Yeo Won's beauty and asking Wang So to drop by the palace more often. The king is just about to dot the Buddha's eye when he's interrupted by the arrival of Shik Ryum. Jong Sik suggests that the king and Shik Ryum should do the dotting together. You can tell the king isn't too crazy about this idea but he's not strong enough to say back off, dude. While they're at it, Shik Ryum mentions he needs more money and soldiers. Once again the king is too weak to say no.

Yeo Won's brother (I think his name is Wang Uk) is off admiring the winter beauty when he spots Yool. Like his sister, Wang Uk seems to recognize the merchant. Yool is about to fall into the creek when she's saved by Wang Uk. She saw him earlier at the temple ceremony so she knows he's a prince. One of Yool's shoes get swept away by the water. Wang Uk offers to go retrieve the footwear but when he turns around Cinderella is gone. At least he still has her shoe.

A masked Wang So and his ninjas invade Kim Jong Sik's compound. They interrogate the old man but he's staying tight-lipped about his involvement with the old king's death. So takes off his mask so Jong Sik will know who it is who is slitting his throat. (Now maybe Ahn Suk Hwan will be able to take a break. Nah, knowing him he's probably leaving this set to go start filming on yet another drama.)

As Jong Sik dies, a talisman falls from his robes. The other members of the Legion of Doom have similar talismans. (I've said this before and I'll say it again. If you're going to have a secret evil army, don't have everyone get something like matching tattoos or fancy necklaces that will connect them to each other - and you.)

When Shik Ryum hears about his crony's death he thinks, "Damn, that talisman I gave everybody! What a stupid idea." Shik Ryum orders Bidam Wannabe #2 to go immediately to Jong Sik's house to retrieve the incriminating evidence. While this guy doesn't find the talisman, he does find a little flag that Wang So purposely left behind to let the bad guys know he's on to them. The flag bears the image of a three-legged crow, emblem of the late king's secret bodyguards.

When the current king hears about the return of the secret guard, he asks Wang So (now back in non-threatening prince mode) to try and find these people. So decides now is not the time to reveal his secret identity as this is only the third episode.

Wang So and Shin Yool finally meet again. He's dressed like a beggar and she's dressed like a man because Reasons. She recognizes him but he doesn't her because she's a him. They end up sharing a hotel room together.

Three Kingdoms Episode 52

Zhuge Liang advises Liu Bei to accept the marriage proposal. Never mind that Liu Bei's wife's body is not even cold yet. One has to think ahead. Sun Quan insists the groom should be the one to come to Jiangkang to marry Sun Xiaomei. Liu Bei's oath brothers, Zhang Fei and Guan Yu, are offended by this idea as it would mean Liu Bei would be losing status in the Sun household. Even Big Fan is backtracking now and says maybe this was a bad idea after all.

But Liu Bei understands that the stakes are too high to call off the marriage now. He will go to Jiangkang. If anything does happen to him, Zhuge Liang is in charge of Jing. The brothers voice their worries to Liu Bei that Zhuge Liang may seize this opportunity to take control of Jing himself and become Big Fan On Campus. Liu Bei threatens to kill himself if they keep trashtalking his boy. I urge them to call Liu Bei's bluff but the brothers instead cave in.

Liu Bei warns Zhuge Liang to watch his back when it comes to Longbeard and Loud Mouth. He also leaves behind secret orders Big Fan is allowed to use in case the brothers do act up. Zhuge Liang tearfully burns the order and swears he'll work with the troublemakers to restore the Han Empire if anything does happen to Liu Bei.

Meanwhile, convinced Liu Bei will turn down the marriage proposal, Zhou Yu orders his troops to get ready to move out to retake Jing.

Zhao Yun has grown a mustache. Zhuge Liang gives him three contingency plans as Zhao Yun escorts Liu Bei down the river to Jiangkang. Zhou Yu is shocked to hear Liu Bei is actually going through with the marriage. General Lu Meng asks what should they do. Zhou Yu reaches over and tips a cup over, spilling its contents. Lu Meng replies, "I understand." Well I don't. What did that mean besides making a mess for someone else to clean up?

As they progress down the river, Zhao Yun opens up the First Plan. He then goes to convince Liu Bei that they should stop first at the city of Lujiang and pick up some betrothal gifts. Word quickly reaches Sun Quan and Lu Su about Liu Bei being on his way and buying expensive gifts at his stopover. Sun Quan worries this talk will reach Lady Wu's ears as her son has basically kept her in the dark about this whole marriage thing. Uh-oh, too late. Here she is. The first female character with lines that I've seen in a long while in this drama.

Sun Quan drops to his knees and tries to pass the blame off on Zhou Yu. Lady Wu wonders where all the men with balls have gone in the Southland. Tell it like it is, Lady Wu! She rips her son, rips Lu Su, and then orders Zhou Yu to be brought to her so she can rip him. I hope your daughter is just like you.

Lu Meng and his men get to the dock where Liu Bei's boat is tied up but they see Lu Su has beaten them there. Lu Meng realizes that they won't be able to follow through with their plan. (To tip their glasses over? What the hell was the plan?) Lu Su gives a gracious welcome to the groom's party.

Sun Quan is awful relieved to see Zhou Yu. That is until the general drops the bomb that he's sent an army to launch a sneak attack on Jing. Sun Quan tries to find those missing balls his mother was asking about and give Zhou Yu a dressing down for acting without permission. Instead he just fizzles out like a wet firecracker.

Shine Or Go Crazy Episode 2

Wang So and Shin Yool went through the fake marriage ceremony but General Kwak left behind some soldiers to make sure the "married" couple spent the whole night together. At least Kwak kept his word and released Yool's useless brother. Wang So warns Yool to take extra precautions to protect herself from his bad luck rubbing off on her. Yool assures him he's very lucky because he's got her.

Back in Goryeo, where the king is starting to look bad from that slow-acting poison, they see the moon is in the seventh house and Jupiter aligns with Mars. They mistakenly believe the heavens are giving their approval for Wang So's marriage to Princess Yeo Won. Elsewhere, Wang Shik Ryum and his Legion of Doom are sitting around doing their evil belly laughs and plotting the king's downfall.

While stuck in the honeymoon suite with Yool, Wang So falls asleep and dreams about his tragic past. As a boy he had found some snacks left in his room. Wang So had a stomach ache so he decided to share the snacks with his brother. Guess what: the extra ingredient was poison. Mommy Dearest curses her living son and wishes he had never been born. (Hmm, who left the poisoned snacks in Wang So's room in the first place? Surely not Mommy Dearest, hmm?)

Wang So wakes up from his nightmare and quietly starts to leave. Yool chases after him to at least thank him for the sham marriage. As a parting gift she gives him half of her butterfly necklace and tells him to think of it as a good luck charm.

Wang So meets back up with Eun Chan without telling him anything about getting married. Eun Chan has found a promising lead and our boys go off to corner one of the assassins. Wang So shows the ninja one of the throwing knives recovered from the throne room and demands to know who is behind the whole scheme. He scratches the guy on the forehead with the knife and the ninja goes crazy because he knows there's poison on the blade. The ninja breaks free as he desperately digs through his pack for the antidote. It suddenly occurs to Wang So that his father has been poisoned and so he scrabbles with the ninja to gain possession of the tiny bottle. Eun Chan kills the man and our duo rush back to the palace.

A lovesick Yool decides to move everyone to the capital of Goryeo for business purposes and not at all for the chance of running into Wang So again.

Back at the palace we're introduced to a new character as he pleads with the king. This guy doesn't want his sister, Yeo Won, to be forced to marry Wang So. Don't ask me what his name is as I don't know it at the moment.

Wang So arrives and rushes the tiny bottle of antidote to his father. Alas, the poison has been in the king's system for too long and the antidote is ineffective. The father apologizes to the son for throwing Wang So out. He explains it was for the boy's own safety as other people were wanting the bad luck prince dead. The dying king warns Wang So that it was one of the nobles who must be behind the assassination and for the safety of the kingdom the prince must marry Yeo Won of the powerful Hwang clan.

We get a quick check on Yeo Won who is talking to a man who was the other red ninja to have escaped the botched attack. He's asking her to keep him on as her bodyguard even after she marries another man. (Makes me think of Sad Eyes from Bridal Mask.) The question is does Yeo Won know her bodyguard was trying to kill the king? Is she part of the conspiracy?

Wang So and Yeo Won both get dressed for their royal nuptials. At the same time Yool and her peeps are arriving in the city. All the talk they hear on the streets is about the prince's upcoming wedding. This makes Yool think about her own wedding. Not that she's looking for her fake husband. Wang So and Yeo Won have the Most Depressing Wedding Ever. Instead of spending the night with his new(est) bride, Wang So goes walking through the forest to hold a meeting with his secret ninja army. The king dies and another of Wang So's brothers takes the throne. (Wang So is like the fourth prince so he's got several heirs ahead of him.) Evil Shik Ryum grins evilly as he assumes he'll be able to manipulate the new king.

Time skip five years later. Yool's business is a roaring success. Still, any man with a pony tail in the crowd catches her eye. Wait! That guy over there with the goatee - could it be her long-lost fake husband?

Shine Or Go Crazy Episode 1

Technically speaking I was really looking for The Empress of China with English subs but couldn't find any and instead stumbled upon this. It looks like a sageuk with all sorts of ninjas and Bidam wannabes.

A trio of adorable kids are sneaking around the palace at night when suddenly a yeti comes out of the shadows to scold them for messing around with the king's stash. The kids are afraid they've broken a necklace in half. The yeti explains the necklace is composed of two parts and has a very interesting backstory which we're all about to hear.

It begins with a cursed Prince of Goryeo born under an ominous star. The prince was sent into exile to Geumgang Mountain where he grows up to become that crazy kook from Fated To Love You. He has just returned from killing a pig to find he has been summoned back to the palace. Wang So has mixed feelings about once again seeing the father who kicked him out to the boonies.

The king is wanting his son to move back home and start training under warrior Eun Chun. Bitter Wang So replies, respectfully, "Kiss my ass." As they're discussing all this - ninjas attack! The bad ninjas (dressed in red) are on the verge of breaking into the royal throne room when they're counterattacked by good ninjas (dressed in black). As if things weren't dark enough, a cloud covers the moonlight, plunging the fighters into pitch blackness. Now sightless, Wang So and the others must use their remaining senses to detect where the enemy is. The only light comes from the sparks from when swords collide in combat. This is actually pretty cool.

The clouds are blown away and once again moonlight floods back into the room. Their cover blown, the remaining red ninjas hightail it outta there. The queen, Wang So's mom, rushes into the room to check up on her husband. Oh, and to slap Wang So for being cursed. Thanks, Mom.

Wang So, as an excuse not to stay in the palace with Mommy Dearest, declares he will track down the escaped ninjas and bring them to justice. The king orders Eun Chun to assist the prince. Oh dear, what the king won't tell anyone is that he was scratched by a blade during the fight. If I know my ninjas, that blade probably had a slow-acting poison coated on it.

Elsewhere, Bidam Wannabe #2 reports to his evil boss, Wang Shik Ryum (younger brother of the king), about the failed assassination attempt. Ah, Bad Guy is played by Lee Duk Hwa. Oh, this is gonna be good.

Wang So and Eun Chun go up to the roof (because this is a Kdrama after all) to release some moths. Eun Chun reveals before the two red ninjas were able to get away he was able to coat them with a powder that will attract these male moths. Our duo follow these ancient tracking devices to a port city where one of the assassins is catching a boat to China.

Meanwhile back at the palace, the king is already discussing marrying Wang So off to Princess Yeo Won, a woman they have found to have "the energy of the North Star" or some such nonsense. Some members of the court try to talk the king out of picking Yeo Won and instead marrying the prince off to Shik Ryum's daughter. The king stands firm with his first pick (while secretly starting to feel the affects of the poison).

Wang So pukes his way to the Chinese city of Gaebong.

Next we go to a woman named Shin Yool, a trader who is having a meeting with some random white guys in turbans. Oh hey, and there's Jilsuk from Queen Seondeok. Suddenly ninjas attack! Wait, no, they're just some Chinese soldiers who have captured Yool's brother in order to force Yool into marrying General Kwak. Please refrain from making any duck calls.

Yool refuses to marry the Chinese general because... she's already engaged. Yeah, that's the ticket! She's already spoken for. Now all Yool needs to do is cough up a fiancé. If only there was someone in town who was from Goryeo...

Yool and her peeps are out in the market place shopping for a man. Wang So and Eun Chun are being chased around by whores when the prince bumps into Yool, saving her from being run down by a speeding cart. Here come the whores again so Wang So must dash. A smitten Yool decides he'll do. They kidnap the prince and convince him to go through the sham wedding to get Kwak off their back.

What's With This Family? Episodes 5 And 6

At the totally empty of customers café, Seo Wool is asking Eun Ho for his number so she can return his jacket. A jealous Dal Bong rips the jacket from off her shoulders and covers her up with his own flannel shirt so she won't have to have any more interaction with his former friend.

Seo Wool asks why Dal Bong was so mean to Eun Ho. This causes Dal Bong to flashback to their younger selves. Somehow Dal Bong had a picture of young Seo Wool. (Just who took it?) Eun Ho grabbed the photo and crushed it which caused young Dal Bong to launch into an attack. Of course present day Dal Bong isn't about to tell Seo Wool about this.

Back at the empty café, Eun Ho sees that Seo Wool left behind the shoes she had bought for Daddy Cha.

Chairman Moon is pleased when Kang Shim announces she will work as Tae Joo's secretary. Dad gives his permission for her to go all out and not hold back when it comes to whipping Tae Joo into shape.

Tae Joo is sitting in a cafe that has a few customers. He's meeting with one of the underlings who works under Kang Shim and is trying to get the man to help him break the Ice Queen. But Kang Shim had already foreseen Tae Joo trying this tactic and had earlier told Underling to do whatever Tae Joo asked of him.

Oh Viki, why must your player be so crappy?

Kang Shim goes in early to start her new job and clean up the place (without disturbing all the Cetaphil product placements). OCD Tae Joo doesn't appreciate having all his stuff moved around. Put everything back, serve a different kind of tea, and get rid of those flowers!

Aunt Soon Geum talks Daddy Cha into finding a husband for Kang Shim.

Seo Wool has gone back to the café looking for the shoes she left behind. Expecting this, Eun Ho left her a note telling her to come to his office for the footwear. He invites her to stay and have something to eat that looks quite delicious although I have no idea what it is. Suddenly I want a peanut butter shake. Ham's Drive In had the best peanut butter shakes. Anyway, Eun Ho tries to ask questions about Seo Wool's relationship with Dal Bong. She tells him about the whole drowning in the river incident which sparks Eun Ho's memory.

Eun Ho confronts Dal Bong as to why he hasn't told Seo Wool the truth about what happened twelve years ago and who is who.

Seo Wool gives the shoes to Dal Bong and makes him go put them on Daddy Cha's feet so Dad will think his son has a heart.

Brother Asshole's secret girlfriend comes out of the closet. I don't care.

Kang Shim works towards getting Tae Joo and Daddy Moon having a meal together so they can get in some father/son bonding. When Tae Joo accidentally hits her on the head, Kang Shim wisely uses his guilt to achieve her goal.

Eun Ho takes Seo Wool to a baseball game. The game is being televised and Dal Bong (plus nosey Aunt Soon Geum) see the couple sitting together in the stands. Dal Bong finds them after the game and the two guys get into a fight on the sidewalk. When the police show up, everyone makes a run for it.

Chairman Moon thinks his dinner with Andre Tae Joo is the perfect time to introduce Sul Hee. It's not and Tae Joo coolly leaves the restaurant.

Eun Ho enjoyed the brush with the law so much that he takes Dal Bong and Seo Wool out to a Japanese restaurant to listen to samba music. Seo Wool gets smashed.

Daddy Cha, who has a couple of beers under his belt, has had enough and orders Kang Shim and Kang Asshole in for a family meeting. He orders his daughter to go on a blind date whether she wants to or not. He orders his son to stop being an asshole.

Three Kingdoms Episode 51

I had just finished Perfect Couple, crappy ending and all, but found myself still in the mood for Chinese. So I thought I would check back in with my old bros Baby Bouncer, Loud Mouth, Longbeard, and I Have Only One Line. I haven't seen them in awhile.

Also, I'm knocking back some Benchmark so no telling what will come out of me. Remember, don't drink and blog!

Where the hell is Ruby Lin?

Ah yes, the two minute opening credits. China, we ain't got time for two minutes of opera! Get on with the story!

Lu Su is talking. I've totally forgotten who Lu Su is. Somebody remind me. He's talking to Sun Quan. Okay, it's sort of coming back to me. Sun Quan has something to do with the Southlands and Liu Bei. Thank goodness this show helps me out by showing the character's name when they first appear in the episode. If only all shows did this.

So these guys are wanting Jing province back which is currently in Liu Bei's possession. Sun Quan orders Lu Su to first go check up on Zhou Yu, that crazy general, who is in the process right now of coughing up a lung.

Zhou Yu is in denial of his illness, just like he's in denial of reality. He's been studying up on his obsession, Zhuge Liang. He thinks he's got Big Fan all figured out. This is when Lu Su arrives at camp. Knowing how crazy Zhou Yu is, Lu Su advises the general that now is not the time to attack Liu Bei as they're just not ready yet. Zhou Yu says too bad, the wheels are already in motion.

Lu Su rushes off to meet with Liu Bei before blood is spilled. He reminds Baby Bouncer that word was given that Jing would be returned after Liu Qi's death. Well, what's the hold up? Zhuge Liang points out they're all in mourning for Liu Qi; now isn't the time to discuss handing over the province. Besides, everything in China belongs to the Emperor, who just happens to be Liu Bei's nephew. (Of course with the Han emperor being under the "protection" of Cao Cao, wouldn't that mean Jing Province belongs to Cao Cao?)

Lu Su warns them that they wouldn't be where they are today without Sun Quan's help so hand over the damn province or else Zhou Yu will come over and kick their asses. Zhuge Liang suggests a compromise: as soon as they conquer another province, they'll hand over Jing. Why does everyone suddenly look so fat in this show? It's like they've got twenty layers of clothing on.

Anyway, Lu Su agrees to at least take this proclamation to his lord. On his return trip he stops off at Zhou Yu's camp once again. Zhou Yu tells him what a fool Lu Su is into falling for this claptrap. But tonight let's get smashing drunk! Hell yeah!

Liu Bei's stuntman is getting some sword practice in when he receives word that his wife, Lady Gan, has passed away. This leads Zhou Yu to come up with a plan. Surely Liu Bei will be looking to get remarried as soon as possible. Lord Sun Quan has a sister who is of marriageable age. (Is this Ruby Lin??) They'll have Sun Quan invite Liu Bei into the Southlands to marry the sister. As soon as Liu Bei steps into their territory they'll take him prisoner with his ransom being Jing Province.

What's With This Family? Episode 4

Brought to you by Cetaphil Lotion. Proud sponsors of What's With This Family? Look for it in the show everywhere.

Daddy Cha comes to his drunk daughter's defense, yelling at Moon Tae Joo for taking advantage of Kang Shim. Tae Joo rolls his eyes and retorts that she was the one doing all the kissing. If anyone was a victim of sexual assault, it was him. Tae Joo goes home and gargles like his life depends on it.

Meanwhile Seo Wool passes out in the middle of swapping slobbers with Dal Bong and he has to put her to bed. He pulls out his old yearbook and reminisces about the time he almost let his best friend Eun Ho drown.

Yoon Eun Ho is having dinner with his mother, Sul Hee. She hasn't told her son yet that she's been seeing Chairman Moon. She advises her young son to never marry for love and to instead pick someone with good money, a good family, and a good background. (The Foreshadowing Hammer tells me that Sul Hee will somehow end up with working man Daddy Cha, the exact opposite of who she thinks she wants. Now if only I could tell if Chairman Moon goes for Dal Bong's Aunt-With-No-Name.)

Morning breaks on the fake street. Kang Shim and Seo Wool seem to be bonding over their shared hangover and messy hair. The family is surprised when workaholic Kang Shim announces she's not going to the office today. Even her co-workers are shocked she's not there. Tae Joo smirks to himself thinking he's finally gotten rid of Kang Shim. Chairman Moon rips his son a new one, ordering Tae Joo to apologize to Kang Shim for jumping to conclusions. Dad finally comes out and reveals he's been romancing former anchorwoman Baek Sul Hee.

Dal Bong is irritated that Seo Wool doesn't remember kissing him.

Since Tae Joo isn't bending when it comes to Kang Shim, Chairman Moon takes it upon himself to visit the fake street set to try and get Kang Shim to come back to work. He begs her to work with Tae Joo and straighten the young man out.

Dal Bong has found work as a stockboy at a flea market. (Well, it looks like a flea market to me. I guess its a mall.) He runs into Seo Wool who has been out buying new shoes for Daddy Cha. Dal Bong invites her to meet up with him after work and he'll take her out to dinner. Seo Wool is waiting at the escalators at the appointed time when she spies the pickpocket from Episode 1 who stole Dal Bong's wallet. When she sees the culprit starting to steal again, Seo Wool leaps into action.

The thief violently throws Seo Wool to the floor, ripping her shirt in the process, and makes his getaway. While absolutely no one else in the crowd will do anything for her, suddenly a man who witnessed the altercation steps forward and drapes his jacket around Seo Wool to preserve her dignity. That man is Eun Ho. Hearts flutter everywhere. Seo Wool's legs are wobbly from shock so Eun Ho sweeps her up into his arms and carries her to a nearby café. Girls swoon around the world.

Meanwhile Dal Bong also encounters the thief and remembers the guy from the subway. He gives chase but the criminal is able to get away. Dal Bong comes back into the mall to locate Seo Wool who is giving her statement to the mall police.

This is where former friends Dal Bong and Eun Ho are reunited after a ten year separation. It is not a warm reunion.

Oh, there is stuff going on with Brother Asshole, but as I said in the previous post, I don't care about him.

What's With This Family? Episode 3

Once again I am bored to tears by American television. Specifically I am bored with programs on ABC. I tried (tried being the operative word) three different shows from them and couldn't get through a one of them. So I've come back to this because at least I can get to the end of an episode.

Daddy Cha demands Dal Bong to explain why Seo Wool is in the house eating their food. Dal Bong doesn't want his family to know he owes the girl $1,500 so he lies and claims Seo Wool was robbed and he simply felt sorry for her. Brother Asshole continues to be an ass and jumps to the conclusion that Dal Bong has gotten Seo Wool pregnant.

Brother Asshole goes to work and is an ass to the hospital staff. You know what, I hate Kang Jae. I'm just going to edit him out of my consciousness. I don't care if he's getting it on with a resident or not.

Still under the assumption Seo Wool was robbed, and against Kang Shim's wishes, Daddy Cha agrees to allow Seo Wool to stay for one month. Kang Shim accuses her father of always putting other people before her. (Remember, this is the same daughter who totally forgot her own father's birthday but remembered her boss's.)

Moon Tae Joo is scheming to somehow find a way to separate his father from his secretary as Tae Joo fears Kang Shim is out to become Mrs. Moon. It doesn't help things when Tae Joo barges into Chairman Moon's office and sees his father supposedly presenting Kang Shim with a diamond ring. (Daddy Moon is showing Kang Shim the ring he's going to give to Baek Sul Hee.) Tae Joo demands an explanation. Daddy Moon says get out of my office, you underpaid nerdling.

Seo Wool goes out and about on the fake street to meet all the fake neighbors. Like wildfire the rumor spreads that she is Dal Bong's fiancée. Seo Wool does nothing to correct their mistaken assumptions. Daddy Cha decides to look into Seo Wool's background and find out who her parents are. They're dead; that's who they are. They died in a car accident when Seo Wool was a child and she was raised by her grandfather.

Tae Joo fires his secretary, goes through the secretary pool, and then strongarms Chairman Moon into giving him Kang Shim. Kang Shim fights this all she can but we've gotta get this show on the road so get down there and start making fireworks with the director.

Since Dal Bong claims he wasn't the one drowning and promising marriage, Seo Wool wants to go find the real guy she saved. And here he is. Yoon Eun Ho (played by Seo Kang Joon) is the son of Baek Sul Hee. Dal Bong tries to talk her out of looking for the guy. Seo Wool offers up a bet that if she meets the guy and he still won't hold to his marriage proposal then she will forget the $1,500 debt Dal Bong owes her. Dal Bong would be stupid not to agree. (Plus, this is a sitcom, after all.)

Kang Shim is out getting Seo Wool absolutely plastered when Moon Tae Joo shows up. He's wants to pay her off to leave his father alone. Drunk Kang Shim asks what does she have to do to prove to Tae Joo that he is mistaken about her relationship with Chairman Moon? Meanwhile, drunk Seo Wool asks Dal Bong what does she have to do to get him to marry her?

Both ladies rely on the old tongue-down-the-throat maneuver.

What's With This Family? Episode 2

Daddy Cha brings crazy Kang Seo Wool back to the house to try and figure out this mess. Dal Bong only knows Seo Wool from attacking her at the train station, not from asking her to marry him back twelve years ago. Seo Wool tells the story in flashback style of when a young Dal Bong had fallen into some water and she fished him out. This jars Dal Bong's memory but claims that wasn't him who nearly drowned, it was someone else. In Dal Dong's flashback, a boy in a red shirt is flopping around in the water while another boy on the rocks is really slow to react. Before the second boy (supposedly Dal Bong) can even get his feet wet, a young Seo Wool (complete with Bionic Woman sound effects) leaps into the water and saves Red Shirt. So what's the real story here? Who was drowning and who was standing there like an idiot?

Chairman Moon is out of the hospital and back to the office. Moon Tae Joo is mad because he had ordered dad's driver to be fired but Mr. Lee is still on the payroll. Tae Joo and Cha Kang Shim bicker as future lovers always do. Tae Joo accuses her of trying to seduce his dad when really Kang Shim is trying to cover for the chairman who has been wooing Baek Sul Hee (played by Na Young Hee).

Dal Bong tries to get out of the pyramid scam he was suckered into. He becomes embroiled in a Brawl in the Hall. Seo Wool uses her X-Men/Banshee powers to stop the fight, shames the Men In Black for ganging up on Dal Bong, and pays off the head scammer so her man can walk away. Now that she has no money and Dal Bong owes her, Seo Wool insists on staying with the Cha's. (Park Hyung Shik looks an awful lot like a young Ji Sung. Just sayin'.) Dal Bong sneaks Seo Wool off the fake street set and up to a rooftop apartment being used as a storage room where he hopes to hide her.

That evening at the family dinner table, Dal Bong has a Marcia! Marcia! Marcia! fight with older brother Marcia Kang Jae. (Is the brother ever going to get a storyline besides just being an all-around ass?) Dal Bong doesn't find a chance to break it to Daddy Cha that there's a girl stashed upstairs.

As night falls and everyone heads to their respective rooms, a hungry Seo Wool sneaks down into the main house in search of food. She's caught by sister Kang Shim.

What's With This Family? Episode 1

Kang Seo Wool (played by Nam Ji Hyeon) has just climbed the Stairway to Heaven in order to yell at the city below. The City does not answer back, but thank you for introducing yourself to the audience, Seo Wool.

After some perky opening credits, we see Seo Wool has descended down from high altitude to pack her bags. She takes down a picture of herself and her childhood sweetheart, Cha Dal Bong. Back twelve years ago the kids made a pact to meet in Seoul and get married. I take it Seo Wool is naïve enough to believe that's still going to happen.

(You know what would be refreshingly different? If that did happen. She goes to Seoul to meet her long lost childhood sweetheart, he's standing there waiting for her, and they get married without a hitch. Ain't gonna happen but at least it would be different.)

Meanwhile in Seoul, Dal Bong (played by Park Hyung Shik), who lives with his father and aunt, is late getting to his first day on the job. His older sister Kang Shim (played by Kim Hyun Joo) is also having a rough morning as there is trouble at her work and she's rushing around to get ready. Brother Kang Jae (played by Yoon Park) has just come in from work at the hospital and goes straight to bed. No one has time to eat or to wish Dad Cha Soon Bong (played by Yoo Dong Geun) a happy birthday.

Kang Shim gets dressed in the cab, enters the office calm, cool and collected and quickly handles the crisis. She works for Chairman Moon Tae Oh (played by Kim Yong Gun) and butts heads with his son (and her future love interest) Moon Tae Joo (played by Kim Sang Kyung).

Seo Wool and Dal Bong actually end up on the same crowded train but neither recognizes the other. So much for twu wuv. As she's asking him for directions, a pickpocket strikes Dal Bong. He gives chase to get his wallet back but loses the fellow. Dal Bong thinks Seo Wool is the thief's partner in crime and takes her to the police (after a wrestling match in the train station).

When he finally gets to his place of employment, Dal Bong realizes too late that it is a pyramid scam.

Reminded that it is her father's birthday (by her boss of all people), Kang Shim hurriedly makes a reservation at a restaurant. Dad is all excited as he believes now his kids didn't forget what day it is. But then Kang Jae is called back to the hospital because one of his patients isn't doing well, then Kang Shim's beloved boss is involved in an accident and she doesn't want to leave his side.

Daddy Cha waits and waits for his children. Seo Wool waits and waits for her non-existent fiancé. Finally giving up, Seo Wool is heading home when she runs into Dal Bong again. He's trying to peddle his snake oil in a park and gets arrested for not having a license. Seo Wool is stunned to learn that this guy who has been plaguing her all day is her Dal Bong. Daddy Cha has to spend his birthday bailing his youngest out of trouble and eating ramen for dinner.

The next morning Dad is at his tofu shop when Seo Wool drops in and introduces herself as his future daughter-in-law.

Detectives of Seonam Girls' High School Episode 1

Besides the obvious crimes and teenage girls, I have no idea what this show is about.

Whoa, we start off bloody as a young school girl (we only see the back of her head whenever the cameraman is NOT focusing on people's legs) throws herself off the roof of the school building.

Student Ahn Chae Yool (played by Jin Ji Hee) is getting ready for the first day at her new school. Her mom is a Korean Oprah while Dad is a doctor. As Chae Yool leaves her apartment building she is suddenly accosted by a man. He... bites her wrist  and then forces a lollipop into her mouth before walking off.

What. The. Hell.

The other school girls are gossiping about this same pervert. Apparently Chae Yool isn't his first victim. Nor will she be the last as Chae Yool decides not to report the incident. (Idiot. Hope you've had a tetanus shot.)

Elsewhere in the school, Korean Velma (played by Kang Min Ah) is calling together her Mystery Inc. gang. (No sign of a large dog anywhere.)

Chae Yool's bite starts to give her problems and she is sent to the school's infirmary. Wow, look at the size of that office! Back in my day we didn't even have an infirmary. We just had a closet where the school stashed a couple of bandaids. But I digress... because this show isn't really holding my interest.

So Chae Yool is being treated by the school nurse. The woman insists on taking a couple of pictures of the bite mark. The picture is added to Chae Yool's file which is being typed up by one of the Detectives. Chae Yool lays down on a bed for a nap. After awakening from a nightmare, she encounters another woman who claims to be the school nurse. The only school nurse. So who was that first woman who took care of Chae Yool?

There's a strange meeting between Chae Yool and the school principal, but since none of these adults are bothering to report this attack to the police, I don't care about this scene.

Finally it is the end of the school day. As Chae Yool is walking through the hallway she's run into by Korean Daphne (played by Lee Hye Ri). Still no sign of a large dog. Daphne acts like her leg is hurt and makes Chae Yool help her to the gymnasium. This is where Chae Yool is introduced to the Mystery Inc. gang. It's another WTH moment with spotlights, pop music and poses. The other members of the group are Kim Ha Jee (played by Lee Min Ji) and Choi Sun Yoon (played by Stephanie Lee), the imposter nurse from the infirmary. They want Chae Yool to join their gang and help break the Case of the Biting Man.

Chae Yool runs for her life.

(I don't blame you, Chae Yool. I feel like running myself. There's a whole 30 more minutes to suffer through!)

The Biting Man is researching on his computer, finding his next snack from Seonam Girls' High School.

The Detectives resort to biting each other in an attempt to convince Chae Yool that they are victims of the pervert like her so they should all gang up together. Chae Yool would have continued to ignore them but then she learns her much hated mother has planted a spy in the school. She joins up with the gang just to spite Korean Oprah.

The Biting Man claims his newest victim.

You may be wondering, what about the jumper at the beginning of the show? I'll leave you with this final picture of Teacher Ha Yeon Joon (played by Kim Min Joon).

See that gold lighter in his hand? Well there was a gold lighter left behind on the roof after the student rolled off the edge. What's the connection? You'll just have to continue watching the show because I sure as hell won't be.
