Chunchu rattles off crime after crime that the queen has been involved in. Seungman does nothing but look like she's smelling someone's fart. (I'm sorry, Lee Young Ah, but you just don't have the acting chops for a role like this.) Charged as a traitor, Chunchu is dragged off to a prison cell.
Yushin is right in the middle of trying to get his grandfather to help Chunchu out when it is announced his father, Kim Seohyeon, has returned from his exile. Yushin is surprised to learn it was Seungman herself who pardoned Seohyeon and allowed him to return home.
Yushin goes to the queen to bargain with her. If she'll forgive Chunchu, then Yushin will become her loyal guard, her "dog" as they put it. As a test to see if he's really serious, Seungman requests Yushin wash her feet. He does a half-assed job of it, just dribbling water on one foot. Still, its the symbolism of the act. Seungman laughs and agrees to spare Chunchu - if he repents and swears his loyalty to her. Yeah, like that's gonna happen. By now we all know Homey don't play that.
Chained and barefoot, Chunchu is forced to do the Walk of Shame through the streets as he's brought before the queen and her court. (We're told King Uija of the Baekje, in disguise, is in the crowd as well.) Far from being repentant, Chunchu continues to call Seungman a tyrant and not worthy of sitting on the throne. Seungman orders Yushin to cut Chunchu's head off. Yushin reluctantly steps forward and raises his sword but at the last second he tosses his weapon aside and tells the queen to kill him, too.
Seungman indeed orders both men to be executed. Suddenly Chunchu's officers rush forward and proclaim they want to die with their boss as well. Then Yushin's brother and some of the Hwarang flood the field and also ready themselves to die. The Gwimun are in the crowd and rile the peasants up to attack the guards. Its a regular free-for-all.
The sound of horns being blown makes everyone calm down and stop fighting to see what the latest development is. Its Princess Deokman on a horse, and look who's riding beside her - a very much awake King Jinpyeong. He strips Seungman of all her powers and orders everything she's done to be reversed, including her orders of execution.
During all this, Munhui had gone to tell Bora about Chunchu's arrest. The shock causes Bora to go into labor. With only Munhui and a handmaid, neither of which don't know nuthin' 'bout birthin' no babies, Bora delivers a baby girl. However, things aren't going so well for the mother. She's fading fast. As her last wish, Bora asks Munhui to take care of the baby and her husband.
Okay, now we're supposed to believe the king had been pretending to be catatonic all this time. It was all a test to see how people would behave and who would still be loyal. He's made his decision to name Deokman as his official heir, much to her surprise. He was also planning to throw Seungman out of the palace, but after she has a hissy fit to end all hissy fits its discovered she's pregnant. (I have my doubts that the king is the father. We'll see.)
Chunchu officially resigns from court and leaves town so he can go mourn and find himself. This allows a time skip so that the next time we see the pregnant women, both Munhui and Seungman are in labor. Over on a cliff, Nanseung (who no longer has his Great Hair - boo) sees the Northern Lights appear over the city. He predicts this is a sign that a king is being born, one who will rule over the Three Kingdoms.
Munhui gives birth to a son but Chunchu is nowhere around. Seungman is told she has given birth to a girl. This sends her into another one of her screeching hissy fits. Seungman refuses to believe the baby is hers and she demands her "son" be brought to her. Later in the night Sino, Seungman's handmaid, sees Myorang sneaking into the queen's quarters.
Myorang has brought a baby boy, the son of a drifter, to be exchanged with Seungman's girl. For one brief moment Seungman is human enough to hesitate giving her daughter away. Then the frightening vision of that old hag, Queen Sado, urges her to get on with it for the good of the country. Seungman makes the baby trade and tells Myorang to dispose of the girl child.
