While everyone else (including the pregnant Dani) is hanging out at the bar, Mario is the only one in his office. His visitor is Martha, the woman he slept with in Episode 1. She's just found out she's pregnant but there's a chance the baby isn't his as she has a boyfriend and he could be the father. She'll have a test done and they should all know the truth in a few days.
Mario's legal case concerns Andres, a teenage boy who had an accident at his home and is now in a coma. There's a very risky operation the doctors want to try that may either bring Andres out of the coma or kill him off. The operation can't be done without the consent of both parents and Dad is fighting it. He claims he would rather have his son in a coma where he can at least touch and talk to Andres as opposed to losing him completely. Mom wants to take the chance with the risky surgery.
Gonzalo and Dani are working on a wrongful dismissal case. Mr. Giner was fired by his female boss because she couldn't stand his sighing. He's desperately in love with her but she's not with him. He sighs and makes puppy eyes at her all day and she's had enough. (Is that really a wrongful dismissal? Couldn't that be a form of sexual harassment? Eh, I'm not a lawyer nor do I play one on TV.) This case hits home for Gonzalo as he's been secretly sighing and mooning over Dani all these years.
Dani finally gets around to telling Mario he's going to be a father. He thinks she's talking about Martha. When Dani realizes he may have gotten another woman pregnant, she decides to not tell him about her own pregnancy.
I should mention there is a love triangle developing among some lesser characters in the show. They're really not interesting is why I don't mention them. All I'll say is Eli, Mario's younger sister who can't stay in her clothes, reminds me of a young Lisa Renna. Just with smaller lips.
Mario needs to talk with his best friend about this pregnancy scare. Problem is his best friend is Dani. At first she rebuffs him but then she gives in and allows Mario to unburden his fears. He's totally freaking out about the thought he may be a father. He hates kids. Dani changes her mind and tells him she's not at a point yet where she can listen to him talking about having babies with another woman so get out.
Mario has the blond woman - her name is Gema, I'd better start using it - to dig up some stuff on Andres and his family to use in the case. I guess Gema is some kind of private detective/girl Friday. All she has so far is a video of Andres at his ninth birthday and his diary which stops after he turns nine. In the video Dad tries to hug his son but Andres doesn't want the man touching him. If there's one thing this show does well it is announce way before it happens what is going to happen.
Gonzalo and Dani are working on Mr. Giner getting a huge severance pay from his lady boss. Talking with Giner makes Gonzalo have a flashback to when he had a mullet and wore an Adidas tracksuit. He was going to meet young Dani at the movies and confess his love to her there. Dani comes running up with wonderful news: the bank approved their loan. They can open their own law firm now. Oh, and she and Mario have hooked up. Gonzalo congratulates her, hiding the pain in his eyes.
Mario learns the father, who claimed he wanted to touch and talk to his son, hasn't actually been to the hospital at all since Andres went into a coma. Mario goes back to study the diary and the video tape. Something happened when Andres turned nine. Something that would make Dad want his son to stay in a coma rather than have the chance to wake up and tell.
Gonzalo, Dani and Mr. Giner meet with his lady boss and her lawyers about either giving Giner his job back or making a settlement. Gonzalo asks Lady Boss just what is wrong with Giner, why doesn't she love him? Is it because she'll only love selfish, thoughtless men who won't treat her right when there's a good man in the office who will love her unconditionally? Dani is sitting there with this WTF look on her face.
In court Mario works his magic and tricks the father into revealing when Andres was a child, Dad did the Bad Touch. But only once! The day of Andres' accident he was arguing with Dad about how he wasn't going to cover up the truth anymore. He was struggling to get away from Dad when he fell down the stairs and injured himself.
With Dad legally out of the picture, Mom can now allow the operation to proceed. We never learn whether it is a success or not.
Mario hears back from Martha that he isn't the father of her baby. He is understandably relieved. Dani comes in to once again tell him about her pregnancy but Mario is all about how he just dodged a bullet with Martha so again Dani says nothing. Mario goes to the bar to have a celebratory drink with Gonzalo. It is his friend who finally tells Mario about Dani.
The law office is empty except for Dani. She's about to lock up and leave when Mario rushes in. He tells her he wants the baby and he couldn't be happier. He thinks this means they'll be getting back together. Dani puts the kibosh on that idea. She doesn't find Mario as the kind of man she wants to be a father to her child.
