The King's Dream Episode 21

I need a break from European history. Take me away, Korean sageuk!

Kim Yushin has to step in between Bihyeong and Chunchu before the two men kill each other. Chunchu again asks his old friend to return to the capital to clean the mess up there. Yushin replies he still needs more time to think. Chunchu leaves in a teeny bit of a huff.

King Jinpyeong is starting to come out of his fugue state but he's still too weak to fight back against Queen Seungman.

While the womenfolk are locked up, young Beopmin is out on the streets being hunted by Mohawk. Lucky for the boy, Sino comes to his aid. She takes Beopmin to where his aunt Bohui and Yeonhwa are hiding out.

Chunchu (not bothering to stop home first and see if his family is alright - which they're not) helps New Deokman sneak into the royal shrine so she can see her father. So far so good as a disguised princess gets into the king's chamber. Jinpyeong tells his daughter how he was drugged into authorizing the abdication of his throne. Ripping off a part of his robe, Jinpyeong then bites his finger and uses his own blood as ink to write on the cloth.

Better hurry, Jinpyeong, because they're on to you. The soldiers guarding the shrine realize the enemy are in their midst. Chunchu and New Deokman are stopped by Chabi, one of Bihyeong's people. Yet when the other guards come to apprehend the pair, Chabi turns and starts to slash and gash the extras.

Chabi holds off the soldiers while Chunchu and New Deokman escape. Just as it looks like she's about to be overwhelmed, Nanseung of the No Longer Great Hair comes to her rescue.

Chunchu and New Deokman are running through the woods when they encounter Yushin. They think he's here to help them but instead he draws his sword and kills them both.

The End.

Don't worry, it's a dream Yushin is having. The show is far from over.

After learning about the break-in at the royal shrine, Seungman orders the doors to the king's chambers to be nailed shut. She's gonna starve him to death.

New Deokman calls her supporters together and shows them the bloody letter the king wrote. In the missive Jinpyeong refutes the abdication he was forced to give and instead turns over all his royal powers to New Deokman.

Uh-oh, there's that traitor handmaiden who secretly works for the queen. She immediately dispatches a messenger pigeon to Seungman's side. Seungman puts her people into motion to stop all this. Sino needs to get the message to Chunchu so she turns to... Beopmin? Really? You're going to send that little kid into danger?

Fighting has broken out between Chilsuk's men and New Deokman's forces and has spilled out into the streets. Prince Uija and Sweet Abs look on. Uija sees Beopmin hiding in the alleyway but does he recognize the boy as Chunchu's son? I'm not sure at this point.

Chunchu is at New Deokman's palace. She's already slipped away but the soldiers are going to act like she's still there so the enemy won't go looking for the princess. Chunchu gives an inspirational speech. As he and his forces line up outside the palace, Chilsuk and his army amble up at the other end of the street. Glares are exchanged.

Wouldn't you know it, that mouth-breather Beopmin wanders out in the street right in the middle between these two armies. Chunchu leaps upon the nearest horse and rides hell bent for leather to save his son. Beopmin just stands there like an idiot as arrows are flying through the air. Just as Chunchu is about there, an arrow hits him in his chest and knocks him off his horse.

Seeing his stupid son is still in danger, a wounded Chunchu gets back up on his feet and fights the enemy. Father and son quickly find themselves surrounded. Kim Seo Hyun and the Hwarang come running to Chunchu's defense but it looks like they may not reach him in time.

Trapped up against a wall, Chunchu continues to protect his useless offspring. Wounded and weak, Chunchu passes on his last order to Beopmin to unite the Three Kingdoms.

And here comes Yushin to single-handedly save the day.

Beopmin finally gets around to delivering the secret message from Sino. With Chunchu out of commission because of his injuries, it is left to Yushin to act.

New Deokman is off meeting with Buddhist priest Wongwang when Myorang and her sacrilegious ninjas attack the temple. Seungman herself walks in and sweetly asks New Deokman for the bloody letter. Otherwise they'll kill everyone and burn down the holy place. The princess refuses.

More glares are exchanged.
