Three Kingdoms RPG Episode 1

As far as I'm aware this is my first Hong Kong drama. I have to be careful not to make it my last and judge other HK dramas by this unholy mess.

Long story short: Szema Shun is a modern day slacker who, other than a few side jobs, does nothing with his life but play video games. His main expertise is in the game Conqueror of Three Kingdoms. Shun learns a local game shop is going to be for sale and he hits his father up for the money. Dad won't part with a dime (or whatever it is Hong Kong has) to his ne'er-do-well son.

Shun then enters a video game championship and hopes to win the money for the shop that way. He makes it to the finals but loses in the end. Oh, and there's some other storyline with a rich guy trying to set Szema up for drug possession. Shun's two besties betray him so they can get deals, so the cops are after him.

Shun is out working as an extra on a movie location. He's one of those nameless soldiers in a historical battle scene, so he's dressed in fake armor, carries a rubber spear, and has a wig on. A typhoon comes blowing in and Shun runs to seek shelter in a cave. While in the cave, a cheesy special effect whisks him off through time to the true era of the Three Kingdoms.

This was just bad. The direction and camera work was bad. The acting was bad. The special effects are bad. I can't think of one positive thing to say about this episode.
