I Do, I Do Episode 2

I watched the first episode and thought it was cute with just enough LOL moments for me to want to see the next show, although I can't seem to make myself be all "SHOES!!!!" like everyone else. Dramabeans recapped the first one but so far I haven't seen any more from them. They may still be trying to decide whether to follow this or not. Just in case they aren't, I'll try and ride in on their coat tails and give an abbreviated recap without the high quality you always get from Dramabeans.

In the alleyway, Hwang Ji An runs into Park Tae Kang, making him spill his sack of toys knock-off shoes. When the two recognize each other, Tae Kang takes off like a rocket. Ji An takes off her high heels and pursues him in her bare feet. Ouch, ouch, ouch. Just like in the first episode, we see that Ji An is a much better runner than the younger Tae Kang. Dude, you need to go to the gym more often if an older woman can outrun you.

Ji An takes Tae Kang to the police station. Ji An demands to know who and where the knock-off artist is, as Tae Kang is claiming he just picked the shoes up and knows nothing. When Ji An challenges him as to why he was running away if he's innocent, Tae Kang snaps back that he was running because she has a scary face. Who wouldn't run? The police officer tries to convince Tae Kang to save himself by giving up the name of the real criminal, but Tae Kang can't sacrifice his abusive dad and so goes to jail.

Ji An starts to worry about the fate of the young boy and asks to speak to him alone. Is he afraid to say who is really behind the knockoffs? Will someone hurt him if he spills? Tae Kang attempts to claim all responsibility that he made all the shoes himself, but Ji An doesn't believe he has the skill she recognized in the works. She gives up on the boy.

Meanwhile, Daddy Park got away and is sitting and waiting at friend Lee Choong Baek's restaurant, worrying about why he's not heard from his son. On the television is a news report about a crackdown on sellers and makers of knockoffs. A recently arrested criminal is shown on the screen. His face is blurred out and his voice changed to sound like Alvin the Chipmunk, but they all know it is Tae Kang. Aww, Daddy Park turns himself in to free his kid. When Tae Kang returns home he finds his old man had made dinner for him before the old man turned himself in. Aww, Daddy Park!

At the airport we see a young woman arriving. This is Yeom Na Ri, who has returned to Korea after 15 years. Her uncle must be the owner or at least a higher up of the company Ji An designs for, because when Na Ri mentions to him she would like a different office, Ji An is unceremoniously cleared out of her space. (Commentors at Viki brought to my attention how "uncle's" eyes keep straying to Na Ri's chest, so I'm not sure if he's a real blood uncle or just a dirty old man she calls uncle.) Ji An's minions gossip about the upstart and we learn that Na Ri is the daughter of the Chairman's mistress.

Speaking of Na Ri, she's here to be introduced to the designing team. As an obviously pissed-off Ji An carries a box out of her former office, Na Ri attempts to be friendly and apologises about taking Ji An's office. Ji An isn't having any of it and honestly admits she's upset. Na Ri holds out her hand for a shake but Ji An first shrugs it off, indicating her hands are full. Interestingly, Na Ri steps closer and sticks out her hand, insisting on a handshake. Reluctantly Ji An puts down her box and gives a rather limp shake. When she picks up her box and starts to walk away, a pamphlet falls out to the floor. Na Ri picks it up and loudly reads that it is about menopause, revealing Ji An's secret. Oh, it is on.

Ji An gets a call from her mother concerning the recent blind date with Jo Eun Sung. (I like him.) Eun Sung was supposed to reject Ji An as they planned, but instead he's expressed interest in seeing her again. When Ji An calls him to ask what the deal is, he suggests they go out on a couple of dates to keep their parents off their backs. There's some playful banter between them as Ji An turns him down. I really do like the chemistry between these two. Now I want young Tae Kang to blow off and let this couple get together.

Daddy Park is out of jail only to learn that Tae Kang sold his beloved Beyonce bike and the house in order to get enough money to pay the old man's fine. So he's free and homeless. There is a montage of Tae Kang going through a variety of jobs, including nude model.

Meanwhile, Ji An and Na Ri continue to butt heads over business. Ji An overhears her minions complaining about how hard she's been working them. She takes pity and invites them all out for dinner. She goes on ahead to a fancy restaurant and waits and waits and waits. Finally one girl from the office shows up because she got volunteered to carry everyone's excuses to their boss for not coming. (It's a free steak dinner! Who skips out on a free steak dinner?!?)  Ji An does the Korean Walk of the Lonely down a crowded street. She calls the one friend she seems to have in this show only to hear her BFF is with her SO.

Tae Kang is having drinks with Choong Baek at the restaurant when in walks Ji An. She orders the Korean Soju of the Lonely. Tae Kang thinks she's here because of him. She calls him a loser because he's not doing anything with his life. He points out that she may have money and a successful career but she's the one drinking Soju of the Lonely so she's the loser. They go their separate ways, reflecting on their lives as sad music plays.

Ji An is giving a business presentation to the company. She's suggesting they host a contest, basically Korea's Next Top Shoe Designer. Tae Kang is out hitting the pavement for a job when he sees the advertisement for the contest. Daddy Park, the real talent in this family, isn't interested in getting involved with the contest, so Tae Kang throws himself into trying to come up with a design himself.

Ji An and Na Ri look over the shoes submitted for the contest, as well as have another Bitch-Off. The shoe chosen as the winner is the one Tae Kang put in. (I'm not sure if he actually did the shoe or his dad.) Tae Kang comes to the office building to accept the reward. Bored with waiting he goes out to get a drink from a machine that, as all machines do, takes his money. He begins beating it up right when Ji An is walking by. She goes to confront him about abusing private property just as Tae Kang gets his canned drink freed. He opens the shaken can and the contents spew all over Ji An.

Oh yes, and Ji An is starting to experience the Symptoms of Pregnancy.
