The amazing cops of Paju know just what street Chae Won's dad happens to be walking down at that particular moment so they can arrest him for arson. Just when he was trying to make some time with that woman from the airplane who got her bag mixed up with Se Yoon's. But that's a whole other story I'm not following.
Chae Won is terribly worried about her father. (Eugene, you look like you're doing the Pee Dance in an effort to appear nervous. Please learn how to act.) Chae Won goes to be with her incarcerated father. While riding in the taxi, she hears on the radio a news report about the fire, stating there was one person injured and the damage is estimated to be around $80,000 dollars.
Back at the house, Evil Mother-In-Law almost gets caught talking by the Housekeeper Who Needs A Name. Housekeeper later tells Chae Won she suspects EMIL can really talk.
Chul Goo can't understand why the victim of the fire won't settle for lots and lots of money.
Dad's potential girlfriend, besides blinding me with that GREEN jacket, gets to work on trying to get Dad out of trouble. She goes to see her old friend, Se Yoon's dad, to ask for legal help. Se Yoon's dad requests his son go to the Paju police station with the family lawyer to look into the situation. When he and the lawyer arrive at the station, Se Yoon is surprised to see Chae Won there. But at least now Dad has some legal representation.
Kdrama law has it that if the victim settles, then Dad would only face a fine. But since the victim is strangely obstinate, Dad may have to serve at least one year in prison. Seeing how upset Chae Won is about everything, Se Yoon takes her down to the Han River to have a good cry/music interlude.
When Chae Won returns home, Chul Goo whines about her being all worried about her dad and not thinking about his own mother. After all, EMIL was nice enough to give Chae Won's dad the electrical work out of the kindness of her own (black) heart. Learning this tidbit finally gets Stupid Girl to realize her EMIL is behind all this latest woe.
Chae Won goes to yell at EMIL, who acts all innocent and bewildered by the accusations. Mommy's Boy Chul Goo slaps Chae Won.
Se Yoon's clingy mom asks why he's coming home so late. He goes over the story about the woman who came to ask his dad for help for the other guy. Clingy Mom seems rattled that Se Yoon came close to meeting the woman, Yang Choon Hee. (The back story here is Choon Hee and Clingy Mom were orphans together and were once good friends, but now Clingy Mom is really wishing Choon Hee would just go away. Some viewers suspect Choon Hee is Se Yoon's real mother. From what little I've bothered to watch Choon Hee, she doesn't seem to be on any quest to find her long lost baby. Unless this turns out to be one of those storylines where she had the baby then got partial amnesia and forgot she even had a child so Clingy Mom took the baby to raise. Knowing this show, I would not at all be surprised if they went down this road.)
Chae Won goes to the hospital to meet with the victim and find out what his deal is. She learns from the victim's wife that EMIL had called that morning and strongly recommended they not agree to any settlement. With this new information, Chae Won returns home and... falls to her knees in front of EMIL, telling the old witch she's won and to please let Dad go.
