May Queen Episode 23

Apparently while I wasn't looking (because of #&%* overtime), May Queen has gotten an extension and is now going to be 38 episodes long.

As I expected, Geum Hee doesn't believe Dal Soon because of the (fixed) DNA test, and Gi Cheol claims Dal Soon is saying all this crap as a revenge for Chang Hee marrying In Hwa.

Il Mun asks Chang Hee to leave it to him to get the goods on Kang San's thruster.

Hae Joo grosses Kang San out with her poor table manners.

Dal Soon tells Hae Joo about what happened up at the big house, including the fact about the DNA test. Hae Joo fusses at her not-mother for trying to give her away and make her go live with Geum Hee.

Geum Hee is starting to wonder if the DNA test was wrong. Il Mun, seeing his stepmother looking at the test results, starts acting repentant about how he's been treating her and insecure about losing the only mother he's ever known. Geum Hee totally falls for it.

Yoon Jeong Woo hears back from his minion at the prosecutor's office. The fake phone has been used again and was traced back to being somewhere at Cheonji Shipbuilding.

Evil Chang Hee is brooding at a bar, thinking about the days when he was Good Chang Hee, when In Hwa walks in. I guess she's tweaked her Kang San radar to make it Chang Hee radar. She asks why he's drinking alone. Chang Hee turns it around and claims he's drinking over her, worrying that he's not good enough for her. In Hwa gets right to the point and asks just how far he and Hae Joo went. Yeah, Chang Hee, just how far did you two go? Chang Hee doesn't answer either of us. In Hwa starts to leave in a huff when he stops her and lays another manly kiss on the girl.

Bong Hee tries (and fails miserably) to impress Jeong Woo with her housekeeping skills.

Despite still being grossed out by her table manners, Kang San tries to arrange another date with Hae Joo. Unfortunately it all falls through.

Nameless Minion must break it to Do Hyun that there's been a terrible accident at the oil rig in Indonesia, the same oil company Il Mun invested his embezzled funds in. Do Hyun goes down to the shipbuilding office to bitch slap his son only to find Il Mun is out at the moment. As a matter of fact, Il Mun has gone to renew his acquaintance with Sang Tae. He bribes the idiot into being his own mole in Kang San's propeller factory.

Hae Joo asks Kang San if he knows the date when his parents died. He tells her it was August 11, when just last episode he said it was August 12. I believe this may be a translation error. Anyway, Hae Joo realizes this is just one day difference from when her birth father, Yoon Hak Soo, was killed. Kang San rushes off to consult with Geum Hee. He asks her if she ever saw the book of spells his father gave her husband. She doesn't recall. Kang San keeps pushing. Perhaps she saw it when she took care of her husband's possessions after his death. Geum Hee admits she was in such a daze after Hak Soo's murder that it was Do Hyun who took care of things like that.

Do Hyun offers Hae Joo her job back, and like a fool she goes back. Kang San (and the audience) is disappointed with her decision.

When Do Hyun comes home from work, Geum Hee starts to ask him about the book of spells. He denies ever seeing it. Before they can discuss it any further, Il Mun comes home. Do Hyun finally gets his bitch slapping in.

Kang San next goes to Jeong Woo to ask about his brother's death, which occurred on August 13, 1986. Kang San makes several points - that his parents and Jeong Woo's brother died within one day of each other; that they all died in Japan; they both thought a certain spot in the ocean floor needed to be explored for oil; and most importantly they both knew Jang Do Hyun. Still, Jeong Woo can't believe there is anything fishy here. Kang San gives the lawyer the book of spells to read.

Kang San brings it to Do Hyun's attention that Il Mun had the cheap kind of electrical cable used in the drillship being built. It will all have to be replaced, which will cost lots of money and time. Do Hyun goes to have yet another bitch slapping session with his son, only to be held back by Chang Hee.

After reading the spell book, Jeong Woo now also has his suspicions about what happened in Japan. He has his brother's remains dug back up. (Although Hak Soo was cremated. Can you do an autopsy on ashes? No, I shouldn't question. This is DramaLand, after all.) At least Jeong Woo recovers the bullets that were buried with his brother.

An upset In Hwa storms into Chang Hee's office. She's just learned that Hae Joo has been re-hired. Chang Hee explains it was her father's choice, not his. She heads off to talk her Dad into firing her rival. Chang Hee follows. In the hallway, knowing that Hae Joo is watching, In Hwa suddenly plants a big wet kiss on Chang Hee.
